"Today was difficult and full of emotion for me when I announced my retirement from tennis. I wasn't sure how to share this news with you, so I asked my best friend to help me," Barty wrote.

She thanked him for everything he had in the world of tennis. She feels proud and satisfied with her achievements so far.

"Thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way, I will be grateful for the lifetime memories we made together."
