Inspection General Napoleon's Indictment Reading Session On Beating M Kece Is Postponed

JAKARTA - The panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court postponed the reading of Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte's indictment regarding the alleged beating against Muhamad Kosman aka M Kece.

"The trial was postponed to Thursday, March 24, 2022, with the agenda of reading the indictment", said Chief Justice Djuyamto before finally closing the trial at the South Jakarta District Court, reported by Antara, Thursday, March 17.

The reading of the indictment was postponed because the legal advisory team requested that his client be presented in person in the courtroom. Napoleon personally asked the panel of judges to physically attend the trial in the Oemar Seno Adji Room, South Jakarta District Court.

"I beg Your Highness to be more comfortable in the future, I ask this court to allow me to have a trial from start to finish (present) offline (live, ed.)", said Napoleon.

The Napoleonic Legal Advisory Team, led by Ahmad Yani, said that his party asked that his client be presented directly for smooth communication.

“We want (the trial) not to be online, but offline. After the prosecutor reads the indictment, the panel of judges will ask if the defendant understands. In that context, it is impossible for us to communicate with the accused who is far away", said Ahmad Yani.

Inspector-General of Police Napoleon at the trial, Thursday, was present virtually from Cipinang Prison, Jakarta.

Chief Justice Djuyamto said that his party granted Napoleon's request, although online and offline attendance was a technical issue.

“Our number one important thing is that the trial proceeds smoothly. That is the essence of this trial", said Djuyamto.

Inspector-General of Police Napoleon Bonaparte was involved in the case of beating M Kece at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police on August 26, 2021.

M Kace reported the beating to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police on the same day.

Police then named Napoleon and several other detainees as suspects on September 29, 2021.

However, Napoleon's legal counsel said his client and M Kece had signed a peace agreement on September 3, 2021.

However, on October 8, 2021, the police said that M Kece had not withdrawn the report so that the legal process would continue.

The Prosecutor's Office on October 19, 2021 received the delegation of the dossier of the beatings case from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. The legal process is currently in the South Jakarta District Court with Case Number 208/Pid.B/2022/PN JKT.SEL.
