JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the inactive Banjarnegara Regent Budhi Sarwono as a suspect in the crime of money laundering (TPPU). "With the discovery of various new evidences in the case with the suspect BS et al, the investigative team opened and started an investigation related to the alleged money laundering crime (TPPU) committed by the suspect BS et al," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri in a written statement. , Tuesday, March 15.
Ali said Budi was suspected of hiding his wealth from the two corruption crimes and turning it into assets. He said, the assets are in the form of movable or immovable property.
However, Ali has not detailed the assets or assets suspected of being the result of money laundering. He said the investigation is still ongoing.
"The investigation process is currently underway by scheduling the summons of witnesses to describe the alleged crime," he said.
"In this criminal act, it is suspected that there were attempts or actions to hide or disguise the origin of assets originating from criminal acts of corruption, including spending in the form of various assets, both movable and immovable," Ali added.
As previously reported, Banjarnegara Regent Budhi was named a suspect along with Kedy Afandi, who was the former head of his success team during the election. He is suspected of receiving a commitment fee of around Rp. 2.1 billion from contractors who want to get projects in his area.
Not only asking for a fee commitment, Budhi was also named a suspect because he played an active role in the implementation of the tender for infrastructure work. The KPK suspects that he was directly involved in distributing work packages at the PUPR Service, including family companies, and arranging the auction winners.
