Earns IDR 1.65 Trillion Dividend, Saratoga Owned By Conglomerates Edwin Soeryadjaya And Sandiaga Uno Actively Invest In Stock Market And Startups
JAKARTA - PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk has reaped huge dividends from several companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Throughout 2021, the dividend income of the company owned by conglomerates Edwin Soeryadjaya and Sandiaga Uno reached IDR 1.65 trillion.
This record is up 120 percent from the dividend in 2020 of IDR 750 billion. "The ability of Saratoga's investment portfolio companies to optimize opportunities during the national economic recovery phase due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 is the key to the company's brilliant performance," said Saratoga President Director Michael William P. Soeryadjaya in a statement, Monday, March 14.
Several companies that contributed dividends to Saratoga include PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (TBIG), PT Adaro Energy Tbk (ADRO), PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA) and PT Mitra Pinasthika Mustika Tbk (MPMX).
In line with dividends, Saratoga managed to record the highest Net Asset Value (NAV) in the company's history, amounting to IDR 56.3 trillion, mainly supported by an increase in the market value of its unrealized portfolio. "This value increased by 78 percent compared to NAV Saratoga in 2020, which was worth IDR 31.7 trillion," William added.

On the other hand, in accordance with Saratoga's commitment to encouraging national economic growth, the company also continues to seek and optimize opportunities through new investments. During 2021, the company has taken a number of important steps by making new investments in three startup companies, namely Xurya Daya Indonesia (Xurya), SIRCLO, and Fuse, as well as investing in a digital media and advertising company, namely City Vision.
In addition, Saratoga also increased its share ownership until the end of December 2021 compared to December 2020, in PT Mitra Pinasthika Mustika Tbk (MPMX) from 52.21 percent to 56.69 percent and PT Aneka Gas Industri Tbk (AGII) from 8.39 percent to 9.31 percent.
Saratoga Investment Director Devin Wirawan explained, the new investment made in both startup companies and digital media is the company's strategy to be actively involved in optimizing opportunities in the digital industry and infrastructure that continues to grow. Saratoga also proactively helps these new investments in developing strategies and executing their business plans in a measurable and optimal manner.
"During 2021, Saratoga's total investment will reach around IDR 1.32 trillion. We are optimistic that this investment strategy will be able to maintain the company's performance to continue to grow positively and maintain business continuity in the long term," he explained.
Devin also said that in the midst of a very dynamic economic situation in 2021, Saratoga managed to maintain operational efficiency and strong balance sheet capabilities. "The ratio of operating costs to NAV is 0.3 percent, while the loan ratio is around 5.8 percent. We continue to strive to maintain efficiency in operating costs and borrowing costs," Devin added.
