TNI Soldiers Help Cengal OKI Community Build Alternative Roads
OKU - TNI soldiers from Kodim 0402 helped the community of Cengal, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency, South Sumatra, build an alternative road as far as 16 kilometers to connect local residents with villages in East Pedamaran District.
Cengal Sub-district Head Herkules said this alternative road in Talang Rimba, Cengal District, could connect the residents of Keledang Hamlet with Geronggang Island Village, in East Pedamaran District.
The construction of alternative roads is able to cut the distance between two sub-districts and cut transportation costs for local residents who mostly do gardening. This road opens access for about 300 families (KK) in Keledang Hamlet who originally had to take a detour if they had to leave the village.
However, after the existence of this pass, the mobility of residents becomes more agile and saves time.
"No one thought that there would be road access here, but thanks to the dedication of TNI soldiers from Kodim 0402/OKI this can be realized," he said in Kayuagung, Antara, Friday, March 11.
The construction of this road is a collaboration between the OKI Regency Government and the 0402/OKI Kodim through the 2022 Community Service Program.
The existence of this program provides many benefits for the community in terms of economic, social, and social aspects. Moreover, he continued, the majority touched by Karya Bhakti's activities were underdeveloped areas that had not been reached by government activities.
Meanwhile Dandim 0402 OKI/OI Lieutenant Colonel Inf Hendra Saputra said that the construction of this alternative road was a form of TNI's concern for the needs of the community.
"It is our duty to help the government's development program to improve the community's economy," said Dandim.
