Victims Of Past Terrorism In Aceh Get Compensation Of Rp1.13 Billion, Governor Nova: The State Is Present

BANDA ACEH - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) distributed compensation to nine victims of past terrorism in Aceh amounting to Rp1.13 billion.

Deputy Chairman of LPSK Brigadier General (Purn) Achmadi said that the total applications for compensation for terrorism events that occurred in Aceh amounted to 11 applications, of which nine people were domiciled in Aceh, 1 person was domiciled in West Java, and 1 person was domiciled in North Sumatra.

"The nine victims were direct victims of the terrorist incident of armed contact in Lamkabeu Village, Aceh Besar where this compensation was given to one person who was seriously injured and eight other victims moderately injured," he said on the sidelines of handing over compensation to victims of past terrorism in Aceh. which took place at the Governor's Hall and was handed over by the Governor of Aceh Nova Iriansyah along with himself and the Deputy Chair of the LPSK, Antonius PS Wibowo, reported by Antara, Wednesday, March 9.

He explained that the compensation for the nine victims was part of the 357 victims of past terrorism (KTML) who had been successfully identified by BNPT and assessed by LPSK, and had met the requirements to obtain compensation rights as mandated in Law No. 5 of 2018 and Law 31 of 2018. 2014.

He said 357 victims came from 56 past terrorism incidents spread across 19 provinces in Indonesia and foreigners and Indonesian citizens living in the United States, Germany, Australia, Canada and the Netherlands with a total compensation value for 355 victims of Rp. 59,220,000. .000.

"The submission of this compensation is an implementation of Law Number 5 of 2018 and Government Regulation Number 35 of 2020," he said.

He said since the law was enacted, it was explicitly stated that all victims of terrorism were the responsibility of the state.

"Law Number 5 of 2018 is a very progressive legal product and shows siding with victims of terrorism. One of the special things about this law is the emergence of legal breakthroughs that open up opportunities for victims of past terrorism to get compensation without going through the courts,” said Achmadi.

He hopes that the compensation can be used wisely and not consumptively.

"LPSK is ready to work with local governments to build programs for both debriefing and entrepreneurship training," he said.

Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Antonius PS Wibowo also hopes that local government measures such as the SME and Cooperatives Office of the Aceh Provincial Government can provide social and economic assistance programs so that the compensation that has been given from the state can be used by victims more productively.

Anton also encouraged the Aceh Provincial Government to synergize social assistance programs, educational assistance, and health assistance so that it can be accessed by victims of crime in the Aceh region. The compensation costs provided consisted of minor injuries of Rp. 75 million, moderate injuries of Rp. 115 million and serious injuries of Rp. 210 million. . Meanwhile, the heirs of the deceased victims amounted to Rp. 250 million.

"This value is in accordance with the principle permit issued by the Ministry of Finance for victims of past terrorism," he said.

He added that LPSK also provides medical, psychological, and psychosocial rehabilitation assistance to victims of past terrorism.

The Governor of Aceh, Nova Iriansyah, expressed his gratitude to LPSK and all related parties who have completed compensation for victims of past terrorism in Aceh.

"This compensation is part of the state's presence in paying attention to victims and this policy is also in line with the Government's policy in resolving conflict victims comprehensively in accordance with applicable laws," he said.

He hopes that the settlement carried out can continue in the context of the state being present in paying attention to the victims of terrorism in particular.
