KPK Confiscates Billions Of Rupiah From Tubagus Chaeri Wardana's Pocket

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated IDR 36.5 billion of money from Tubagus Chaeri Wardana. The confiscation was carried out based on the decision of the Supreme Court Number 1957 K/Pid.Sus/2021 dated July 12, 2020.

"The KPK execution prosecutor team confiscated evidence on behalf of Tubagus Chaeri Wardana alias Wawan whose case has permanent legal force," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri in a written statement, Tuesday, March 8.

In addition to confiscation of IDR 36.566.796.607, the KPK also confiscated foreign currency with details of 4.120 United States dollars or approximately IDR 59 million; 1.656 Singapore Dollars or approximately IDR 17 million; 3.780 pounds sterling approximately IDR 71 million; and 10 Australian Dollars or the approximately IDR 104 thousand.

Ali said all the seized money was intended to maximize efforts to recover state losses.

"The executor's team of prosecutors confiscated the money, among other things, for the needs and adequacy of the criminal obligation to pay replacement money from the convict Tubagus Chaeri Wardana alias Wawan in the said case," he said.

"Referring to the decision at the Supreme Court level, the obligation to pay replacement money must be paid and then deposited into the state treasury in the amount of IDR 58 billion," Ali added.

As previously reported, Wawan is currently serving a criminal sentence at the Sukamiskin Prison in connection with a number of cases, such as the bribery case for handling the 2013 Lebak Regency Election dispute at the Constitutional Court (MK) and corruption in the procurement of medical devices in the South Tangerang City Government and the Banten Provincial Government.

In addition, Wawan was also found guilty of giving bribes to the former Head of Sukamiskin Headquarters, Wahid Husein. Giving money is intended so that he can enjoy more facilities in the prison.
