Positive For COVID-19, 2 Mixed Doubles Representatives From Indonesia From PB Jarum Cancel From Participating In Germany Open 2022
JAKARTA - Two badminton players from PB Djarum failed to appear to represent Indonesia at the German Open 2022. The two representatives dropped from the mixed doubles number, namely, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
The two mixed doubles were canceled at the German Open because they were confirmed positive for COVID-19 ahead of their departure on Friday, March 4. This was confirmed by PB Djarum through the official website.
“Four players tested positive for COVID-19 on pre-departure tests. They are all in good condition and asymptomatic. Right now we are focusing on their recovery process first," said the Chairman of PB Djarum, Yoppy Rosimin, quoted from the PB Djarum website, Saturday, March 5.
Although two mixed doubles representatives tested positive, fortunately, mixed doubles coach PB Djarum Vita Marissa tested negative.
The absence of the two mixed doubles representatives so far has only been in the German Open 2022. Because for the other two tournaments, such as the All England and the 2022 Swiss Open, Praven/Melati and Dejan/Gloria still have a high probability of appearing.
"Currently we are still seeing progress. If in the next 3-7 days it is negative, they will go directly to the All England and Swiss Open. I hope the players remain enthusiastic and do not despair. The most important thing is that they can recover first," continued Yoppy .
After being tested positive, the four athletes are currently undergoing self-isolation. Their condition will continue to be monitored by a team of doctors and if tested negative they will immediately continue preparations for the All England and Swiss Open.
