Ministry Of Social Affairs Distributes Tents For Refugees In West Pasaman

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed special family tents for earthquake victims in Pasaman and West Pasaman Regencies, West Sumatra Province, as part of an effort to implement a family approach in handling disaster victims. Social Minister Tri Rismaharini said that the tents were intended for families whose houses were damaged by the earthquake. When visiting West Pasaman, the Minister of Social Affairs invited residents to build a family tent, a 4x4 meter tent designed to accommodate four to five people. In Jorong Siparayo, Nagari Malampah, Tigo Nagari District, Pasaman Regency, residents also worked hand in hand to build a family tent. not far from their house which was damaged by the earthquake. "Never put up a tent like this. This is the first time. But happy, we got for each family," said Jaenuddin, a Pasaman resident whose house was affected by the earthquake. Acting Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims Ministry of Social Affairs Iyan Kusmadiana said that residents could set up family tents in front of their homes.

"Residents do not have to evacuate far from their homes, it makes it easier for them to monitor the situation (of property), and communicate with local residents. So, even though they are evacuating, they still feel comfortable," said Iyan. He said that the family tent from the Ministry of Social Affairs was equipped with rolled mattresses, mattresses, blankets, and tent lights. To date, 364 family tents have been erected in front of or around the houses of residents affected by the earthquake in Nagari Kajai, Talamau District, West Pasaman Regency. In addition, 15 family tents have been erected in Nagari Malampah and 30 family tents in the process of being installed on the grounds of the Tigo Nagari District Office in Pasaman Regency.
