Ministry Of Health Gives Good News, These 10 Provinces Experience A Decline In COVID-19 Cases

JAKARTA - Secretary of the Directorate General of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said 10 provinces showed a decline in COVID-19 cases.

A total of 6 of them, cases have decreased after passing the daily number of cases in the Delta wave, namely DKI Jakarta, Banten, Bali, Maluku, Papua and NTB.

Meanwhile, 4 new provinces entered the case-slowing phase as of Wednesday, having previously matched or even exceeded Delta's cases. The four provinces with sloping daily cases are East Java, West Java, South Kalimantan, and West Papua.

Nadia said that the downward trend in daily cases was also followed by a downward trend in the positivity rate in the past week.

"As of Wednesday, February 23, DKI Jakarta, Banten, Bali, NTB, Maluku, and Papua have shown a downward trend in the positivity rate. Meanwhile, West Java, East Java, South Kalimantan, and West Papua have recorded declining positivity rates," Nadia said in her statement, Friday, February 25.

Then, Nadia revealed that the bed occupancy ratio (BOR) of the national scale COVID-19 referral hospital was still under control.

It was recorded that on Thursday, February 24, both the isolation BOR and the COVID-19 ICU still continued to hold at the 38 percent position since Sunday, February 20. The number of hospital inpatients for COVID-19 patients per week is still at 9.02/100.000 population

"This figure is still very adequate compared to the peak of patient care during the Delta wave on July 17, 2021, which reached 33.69/100.000 residents," said Nadia.

In addition, the trend of the weekly case fatality rate (CFR) as of 22 February also decreased by 6.61 percent from the previous week. National CFR per week is now in the position of 2.85.

The number of deaths as of February 23 was at 227 per day, far less than the peak of deaths in the Delta wave of July 27, 2021, which recorded up to 2.069 deaths per day.

"The government's efforts to handle and prevent COVID-19 are to reduce the risk of death for the population due to COVID-19 infection. Not only maintaining the resilience of health care facilities, but we also continue to expand and accelerate national vaccination coverage to protect vulnerable groups," he added.
