Caught, Husband And Wife In Serang City Hoard 9,600 Liters Of Cooking Oil In Various Packages
SERANG – The Banten Regional Police Serkot Police managed to uncover the practice of hoarding cooking oil at the Bumi Serang Damai (BSD) Housing, Walantaka District, Serang City, Banten. The total amount of cooking oil confiscated by officers was 9,600 liters.
The Chief of the Serkot Police, AKBP Maruli Ahiles Hutapea, said that his party had succeeded in uncovering the practice of hoarding oil based on information from residents. The report was finally followed up, and on Tuesday, February 22, a raid was carried out.
"Starting from information from residents, the Serkot Polresta tonight succeeded in revealing the suspicion of business actors who consciously, stored, hoarded basic necessities which are currently scarce and there is price instability. Then from the residents' reports we carried out an investigation and we managed to secure as many as 9,600 sachets or bottles of cooking oil from various brands with a size of 1 liter at the TKP," explained Maruli through an official statement received, Wednesday, February 23.
It was explained that the house where the cooking oil was stockpiled belonged to a married couple (couple) with the initials AH (44) and RS (31).
"Seeing the large number, I suspect that the alleged perpetrator has been hoarding for more than a week. It is estimated that the alleged perpetrator got cooking oil by buying it in installments, but the police are still investigating this," added Maruli.
If proven, the couple is threatened with a maximum prison sentence of 7 years and/or a fine of Rp. 150 billion.
"If it is true that the perpetrator is hoarding, the suspect will be subject to Article 133 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 18 of 2012 concerning Food or Article 107 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 7 of 2014 concerning Trade or Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation, with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of 7 years and/or a fine of Rp. 150 billion. ," closed Maruli.
