Here's Why Instagram Changed Daily App Usage Limit Time!
JAKARTA - Instagram has quietly updated its Daily Limit feature, which allows users to receive notifications when they spend too much time on the app.
However, instead of adding more control, Meta's social media has reduced the time options for Daily Limit notifications.
Previously the company supported user-defined limits for Instagram which could be as low as 15 minutes or even 10 minutes per day, but now Instagram has limited the time options available in the app, now starting at 30 minutes.
The reason for removing the daily limit feature which is shorter than 30 minutes, Meta said, was due to the launch of a newer time management feature, called Take A Break.
The tech giant said it wanted to avoid sending multiple notifications to people at the same time.
“We have two time management features. Our existing Daily Limit shows a notification when you've reached your daily limit, but our newest feature Take A Break shows you a full-screen reminder to leave the app, and includes a 10-minute interval," Meta told TechCrunch, Tuesday, February 22.
"We changed the Daily Limit option to avoid sending multiple notifications to people at the same time."
So the 10 minute option doesn't disappear, but is only found in the new Take A Break feature. Introduced in 2018, the Daily Limit feature comes as concerns soar over the impact of social media platforms on teens' mental health.
Meta announced that it will provide Instagram and Facebook users with a new time management tool, which includes the ability to set daily usage times.

Users can also view the daily average time spent on the mobile app, based on usage during the week. The launch of the feature also ties in with the company's broader push, starting around 2017, when it was embroiled in the negative impact of social media.
Not only does it reduce the time limit, but the Daily Limit settings interface has also been slightly redesigned to show the longer time options first in the list (up to three hours).
For information, the company stated that the update was aimed at making the Daily Limit option less confusing to users, the change was made after the Meta Q4 2021 earnings report revealed that the company had lost money due to the decline in users.
After all, forcing users to spend more time on Instagram allows companies to target them with more ads.
