Residents Of Ketapang West Kalimantan Found Killed By Crocodile While Fishing
KETAPANG - A resident of Bangkal Serai Village, Kendawangan District, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan, Koirul (27) was found dead after being attacked by a crocodile while fishing in the Belangiran River.
"The search for the victim lasted for two days and the victim was found dead", said Head of the Pontianak SAR (search and rescue) Office, Yopi Haryadi, quoted by Antara on Saturday, February 19.
According to Yopi, the joint SAR team conducted a search using the Explore search and rescue (ESAR) method, namely searching on foot on the banks of the river.
Also the surface search method using rubber boats and canoes around the scene of the incident up to a radius of 1.5 nautical miles.
The SAR team previously received a report of a company worker being attacked by a crocodile and missing.
The incident began when the victim and her friend were waiting for their turn to load palm fruit on Thursday, February 17. At that time the victim was fishing in the Belangiran River.
Unfortunately when he was about to set up his fishing rod on the riverbank, the victim Koirul was attacked by a crocodile and pulled into the riverbed.
"The victim was found by the joint SAR team in a dead condition. The victim's body was then taken to be handed over to the family", said Yopi.

The parties involved in the search include the Ketapang SAR Post Rescue Team, the Army and Police as well as the Ketapang Natural Resources Conservation Center, the company, the community and the families of the victims.
