Wave 23 Pre-Employment Cards Open, 50 Thousand Migrant Workers Become Priority
JAKARTA - The government has officially opened registration for the 23rd Wave Pre-Employment Card program or the first wave in 2022 today. The quota in the first week is 500,000, and of the total quota of 50,000, it is prioritized for migrant workers.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the next batch would also be opened with the same amount of 500,000. This is because the Pre-Employment Card program has been deemed successful in carrying out its dual mission during the pandemic, namely improving skills while maintaining people's purchasing power.
"By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, today, I state that the Wave 23 Pre-Employment Card program is officially opened. Congratulations on joining the 2022 Pre-Employment Card Program. Let's move forward, be better, and be ready from now on", he said in a virtual press conference, Thursday, February 17th.
Airlangga said that the Pre-Employment Card program in this wave would be prioritized for 220 districts/cities to eradicate extreme poverty. This is in line with National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) March 2022.
"Social protection programs including the Pre-Employment Card are expected to be implemented this February. So that when the survey is conducted in March, it is hoped that these programs can be monitored for implementation", he said.
The former Minister of Industry said that the Pre-Employment Card program would also provide a special allocation to 50,000 Prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers (CPMI). This Pre-Employment Card Training is expected to complement the competencies possessed by CPMI.
"This will guarantee the competence of migrant workers if they work in their respective destination countries", he said.
