North Sumatra Police Examines 63 People In The Langkat Regent's Human Cage Case

MEDAN - The North Sumatran Police investigated 63 people in connection with the case of a human cage suspected of being used as a place for modern slavery belonging to the inactive Langkat Regent, Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin.

"The team has examined approximately 63 people", said North Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Panca Putra, in Medan, quoted by Antara on Wednesday, February 9.

The Police Chief stated that the dozens of people being examined consisted of people who had lived in the place and their families or people who knew about the alleged criminal acts that occurred while in that place.

"What is certain is that we will continue to develop this case", he said.

The North Sumatra Police Chief said that there were three victims who died allegedly being abused in cages. However, until now it is still investigating whether there are other victims.

"We continue to explore apart from the three people we have received, there are still no other victims who died", he said.

In addition to the victims who died, he said, his party also found victims who had suffered abuse at the location of the cage.

"We have obtained approximately six people. We will continue to open up opportunities for the public to continue to report and dare to testify", he said.
