Coordinating Minister Airlangga Concerning Economic Growth In 2021: The Government's Gas Brake Policy Is Effective
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that the result of economic growth in the fourth quarter was 5.02 percent and year-on-year (yoy) 3.69 percent, driven by the recovery of the industrial and trade sectors.
"Economic growth was largely supported by the industrial and trade sectors which recovered with growth above the national growth of 4.92 percent and 5.56 percent," he said in an official statement quoted on Tuesday, February 8.
According to Airlangga, for the industry's own contribution of 18.8 percent, it is the largest contributor to the structure of gross domestic product (GDP) and contributes 1.01 percent to economic growth.
"In terms of exports, it grew 29.83 percent and imports grew 29.6 percent. This is also the result of the gas and brake policies carried out by the government running harmoniously and effectively," said Airlangga.
Airlangga added that the fiscal stimulus policy for the automotive and property sectors was proven to encourage a multiplier effect in terms of production and consumption.

Furthermore, the bureaucrat who also serves as the General Chair of the Golkar Party revealed that the first dose of vaccination had reached 69.02 percent of the total population. While the second dose was 48.47 percent of the total population with a total number of more than 322 million doses that had been injected.
"Efforts to handle the COVID-19 pandemic increase public confidence in carrying out activities by emphasizing the discipline of health protocols," he stressed.
Airlangga also ensured that the government will maintain the momentum of this positive achievement so that economic growth in the first quarter will be better.
"The government sees this momentum to be maintained in the first quarter of 2022, which last year grew by negative 0.7 percent," he said.
As previously reported, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's economic growth in 2021 was 3.69 percent. Meanwhile, on a quarterly basis, it grew 1.06 percent.
