Omicron Makes Cases Of COVID-19 Soar, Odd-Even At Five Toll Gates Entering Bandung Again

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Government has re-implemented the odd-even system for vehicles entering the city of Bandung at five toll gates to minimize community mobility amidst the surge in the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 variant.

The Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, said that the five odd-even toll roads are Pasteur, Pasirkoja, Kopo, Mohammad Toha, and Buahbatu toll gates. He hopes that this policy can reduce people entering the city of Bandung.

"That's one of our efforts because yesterday the Transportation Agency and Bandung Polrestabes reviewed it. That's our effort to reduce people entering Bandung City", Yana said at Bandung City Hall, West Java, quoted by Antara on Monday, February 7.

According to him, the spread of COVID-19 is caused by human movement. So that movement needs to be restricted again to prevent COVID-19 cases from continuing to soar.

There are currently 1,913 confirmed active cases in Bandung City. Every day from Tuesday, February 1 to Monday, February 7, there were more than 100 cases added.

Meanwhile, the Head of Transportation Control and Order (PDKT) of the Bandung City Transportation Service, Asep Kuswara, said that odd-even applies to vehicles that have out-of-town license plates.

For this reason, Asep admitted that he would immediately coordinate with the TNI (Indonesian Army) and National Police to determine how many more points are needed for the odd-even implementation.

"So, we will close the line later for a meeting about odd-even, how to act. Do you want to add more or only five toll gates", said Asep.
