Sri Mulyani Tells Many Taxpayers Who Patgufolded Hide Assets: 99 Percent Will Be Found By Tax Persons
JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani emphasized that the current era of information disclosure allows for the exchange of information quickly and accurately, including in terms of taxation.
For this reason, he appealed to taxpayers (WP) who have not fulfilled their obligations to the state to hurry so as not to receive sanctions and a higher payment burden. Moreover, the government is currently holding a Voluntary Disclosure Program (PPS) as a facility to get tax relief.
According to the Minister of Finance, there are still many people in Indonesia, especially prominent taxpayers, who have not disclosed their assets to the state. This he stated when holding a socialization of the Law on the Harmonization of Tax Regulations (UU HPP) in Medan, North Sumatra today.
"There is a 99.99 percent probability that your property will be found by tax officials," he said via a virtual channel, Friday, February 4.
The Minister of Finance also seems to have understood the tricks of taxpayers who often hide their assets by transferring the legality of ownership to someone else.
"No ma'am, my property is safe because it uses my driver's name. Yes, go ahead, your driver will pay (tax) 200 percent, otherwise I'll take it all (assets). So it's better if you don't need to be patgufolded, just come along (PPS)," he said.
To note, the North Sumatra region is the umpteenth province that has become the goal of socializing the HPP Law after previously having the same agenda held in many cities.
Meanwhile, the PPS which is included in the HPP Law takes place from January 1 to June 30, 2022. Under the program, taxpayers will be given a final Income Tax (PPh) facility at a lower rate, namely 6 percent to 11 percent for assets that have not been disclosed from the acquisition until 2015.
Meanwhile, for assets acquired from 2016 to 2020, a levy of 12 percent to 18 percent is imposed. For the record, if the taxpayer does not disclose his assets by the deadline of June 30, 2022, the tax rate to be paid is 200 percent.
