BMKG Issues Early Warning To Several Areas In East Kalimantan, 4-5 February Expected Heavy Rain Accompanied By Strong Winds
BALIKPAPAN - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) through its station in Balikpapan predicts that a number of areas in East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim) will experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds on Friday-Saturday (4-5 February).
"Considering that this event can have an impact on disaster events, we remind the public to be careful," said Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan Balikpapan Meteorological Station Class I forecaster, Idham Chalid in Balikpapan, quoted from Antara, Thursday, February 3.
The impacts of these events include flooding, overflowing rivers, landslides, slippery roads, and fallen trees, so all parties are asked to be vigilant. Early warnings regarding the weather have also been conveyed to relevant parties in each district/city, especially for the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) so that they can anticipate in order to minimize the impact.
Meanwhile, a number of areas in East Kalimantan where heavy rain is forecast and may be accompanied by lightning or lightning to strong winds of short duration, among others, on Friday, February 4, occurred in two sub-districts in Mahakam Ulu Regency, namely Long Bagun and Long Apari sub-districts.
Then in West Kutai Regency, rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in five sub-districts, namely Long Iram, Bentian Besar, Linggang Bigung, Siluq Ngurai, and Damai Districts.
Still on the same day, heavy rain and lightning that can be accompanied by strong winds of short duration have the potential to occur in three sub-districts in Paser Regency, namely Batu Sopang, Muara Koman, and Tanah Grogot sub-districts.
Furthermore, on Saturday, February 5, heavy rain that can be accompanied by lightning or lightning to strong winds of short duration has the potential to occur in three sub-districts of Mahakam Ulu Regency, namely Laham, Long Bagun, and Long Apari sub-districts.
"It also has the potential to occur in three sub-districts in East Kutai Regency, namely Muara Wahau, Batu Ampar, and Muara Ancalong. Then a number of areas in Balikpapan City," he said.
Next, West Kutai Regency, the incident has the potential to occur in Bentian Besar, Damai, Tabang, Sendawar, and Melak Districts.
"The Kutai Kartanegara Regency includes Muara Koman, Tenggarong, Muara Jawa, Muara Muntai and Sebulu Subdistricts," he said again.
Then in Samarinda City, it can occur in Loa Janan Ilir District, then Tanah Grogot District in Paser Regency, Babulu District in North Penajam Paser Regency, and Kelay, Maratua, and Derawan Island Districts in Berau Regency.
