Medan Prosecutor's Office Arrests Fugitive BSM Corruption Suspect

MEDAN - The North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has arrested fugitive W, the former Head of the Cahang Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) Jalan Gajah Mada Medan in connection with allegations of corruption in a fictitious loan of IDR 27 billion that was filed by the Pertamina UPMS Medan Cooperative in 2011.

"Suspect W was arrested at the rented house of Perum Merkuri Selatan XVII, Majalengka Village, Rancasari District, Bandung, West Java," said Head of the IBN Wells High Prosecutor's Office Wiswantanu, through Asintel Dwi Setyo Budi Utomo, in a written statement in Medan, Tuesday. February 1 night.

He said the suspect had been on a wanted list (DPO) since December 41, 2018 and during his escape, he moved from Medan to Jambi, Jakarta and ended up in Bandung.

After being named a suspect in 2015, W was absent three times and finally he was appointed as a DPO.

It was stated that from the total approved loans of IDR 27 billion, based on the calculation of the public accountant, it was found that state financial losses reached IDR 24,804,178,121.

He added that in the case, three people were named as suspects, two suspects had been tried and one suspect on behalf of W was immediately tried for abusing his authority and position as Head of BSM Gajah Mada Medan Branch.

"The suspect was charged with Article 2 and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 16 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code," he concluded.
