JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital stated that Agentic AI technology must be utilized as a strategic instrument of the state to encourage more precise, adaptive, and data-based public policies in the digital era.

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Ismail, assessed that mastering Agentic AI is crucial so that the government is able to read the digital lifestyle of the community and formulate policies that are truly targeted.

"Today, people's lifestyles are recorded through search engines, chat applications, social media, and marketplaces. However, the government is not in a position to read the source data in its entirety. As a result, public policies, including tourism and transportation, are often not targeted," said Ismail, quoted Thursday, January 29.

Ismail emphasized that the main issue of the use of Agentic AI is accessibility and the ability of the state to read patterns in aggregate for the public interest, without violating privacy and legal principles.

In addition, he also highlighted the importance of Agentic AI in strengthening digital sovereignty, opening up national economic opportunities, and creating value-added jobs for Indonesian digital talent.

"Many AI solutions require adjustments to the Indonesian context. If we just adopt the technology, then we will always be at the lowest level," he added.

He also emphasized that Agentic AI provides an opportunity for the children of the nation to develop solutions that are relevant to national needs.

However, in its implementation, Ismail emphasized the need for a clear ethical framework and boundaries from the beginning, so that the use of Agentic AI can minimize risks and run responsibly.

Ismail also invited all stakeholders, government, private sector, academics, and young talents, to synergize to build a sovereign, inclusive, and nation-oriented Indonesian Agentic AI ecosystem.
