Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Kemkomdigi, Alexander Sabar, said that Meta explained that the password reset process was an internal mechanism that ran through the official Instagram system and did not open access to the password to other parties.
"No user passwords can be accessed or obtained by any party other than the account owner himself, and there is no indication of misuse of the password reset feature for data extraction by external parties. The in-depth process is still ongoing and the results will be the basis for further evaluation," said Director General Alexander, quoted by Antara.
He continued that Instagram's official system and does not open password access to other parties.
Meanwhile, regarding information about the alleged data leak associated with third-party reports, Instagram said that until now further investigations are still being carried out to ensure the validity of the issue.
After meeting with Meta, Alexander also emphasized that the summoning and clarification of the Electronic System Operator (PSE) is the authority of Komdigi as regulated in Government Regulation Number 71 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Electronic Systems and Transactions.
"The summons to Meta regarding this issue is part of the country's commitment to protecting the personal data of the public and maintaining the security of the national digital space," he said.
