JAKARTA - The collaboration of the cross-border startup ecosystem is now the most important part of digital economic growth and startup growth in Asia. In collaboration with KUMPUL, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), through the Tokyo X-Hub 2025 cooperation program, invites 10 Tokyo-based Japanese startups to explore the Indonesian market and opportunities to expand their business network and collaboration on December 1-3, 2025.

JETRO is an organizational body under the auspices of the Japanese government to promote investment and trade relations between Japan and other countries in the world. The collaboration between JETRO Jakarta and KUMPUL aims to open and bridge various opportunities for cooperation between the two startup ecosystems, both in terms of business development, knowledge exchange, and network expansion for Japanese startups.

This program is aimed at foreign companies that want to penetrate the Indonesian market. Although Indonesia offers enormous growth potential driven by the largest population and the widest economic scale in ASEAN, companies often face significant obstacles, such as investment restrictions policies and difficulties in targeting suitable business partners.

this program is here to facilitate expansion into the Southeast Asian market by creating a strategic connection. This includes establishing relationships with conglomerates, government institutions, domestic companies, and investors, a connection that is generally difficult to obtain if companies try to enter the market independently.

This makes Indonesia the right market for Japanese companies to invest in Indonesia, which participated in producing the Tokyo X-Hub 2025 program as one of these steps.

The 3-day acceleration program provides an opportunity for Japanese startups to take part in workshops related to Indonesian industry and markets, business meetings with potential clients, as well as mentoring with national experts.

In this program, startups are met with corporations, investors, regulators, and also stakeholders of the Indonesian digital ecosystem through a series of business matchings and business visits, and ending with Demo Day activities which will be held on the 3rd day.

The ten startups from Tokyo that took part in the Tokyo X-Hub 2025 were AC Biode, Adora, Bee Information, Asuene, Futu Pocket, GOYOH, Lifescapes, Nihin Media, Peel Lab, and Spacewasp.

The Demo Day session on December 3, 2025, is a series of closings to the Tokyo X-Hub 2025 acceleration program which was also attended by the Director of the Directorate of Digital Ecosystem Development from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs Sonny Sudaryana and Expert Staff for Equity and Investment Partnership from the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Indonesian Investment Coordinating Agency Prof. Tirta Nugraha Mursitama.

The Managing Director of Kumpul, Mega Prawita, hopes that this program will be able to provide strategic steps for the Japanese startup ecosystem in expanding the market to Indonesia.

During this Validation Trip, Japanese startup participants met potential partners and were involved in in-depth discussions, and saw firsthand how the Indonesian market was operating. Indonesia is a dynamic, fast-growing, and sometimes complex market. This three-day program was designed to help the Japanese startup build the foundation," Mega said at the opening of the Demo Day.

On the same occasion, President Director of Jetro Jakarta Shinji Hirai expressed his expectations for strengthening collaboration between Japan and Indonesia

"Collaboration in the new business sector will play an increasingly important role. By taking advantage of Japan's technological advantages and the dynamics of the Indonesian market, we believe that we can create new value that will drive growth throughout Asia," he stressed.

The collaboration between Jetro and Kumpul is expected to facilitate access to market expansion between the two countries, as well as provide space for collaboration not only in terms of economic growth, but also developments in technology across countries.
