JAKARTA - A creative engineer has succeeded in realizing something that has been making it impossible: a drone that can fly without batteries. Luke Maximo Bell, a YouTuber and engineer from England, has just introduced his latest project a fully solar-powered drone, without batteries, without capacitors, and without any power reserves.

This crazy experiment comes just days after Luke and his father, Mike Bell, tried to reclaim the Guinness world record for the fastest drone through Peregreen 3 which was able to shoot up to 585 km/hour. This time Luke swerved in the opposite direction: not extreme speed, but absolute efficiency.

In order for the drone to take off without stored resources, Luke makes it possible. The range is from super light carbon fibers, the propellers are also made from similar materials to reduce loads. The power source? A long blades contains 27 mini solar panels that directly distribute electricity to the drone's power system. Without any energy buffers, every milliwatt of power comes directly from the sun.

After a series of trials and tunings, the drone finally managed to fly around the field. His flight was still a bit shaky especially when the wind was blowing or the sun was dim but in fact, he really flew only with solar energy. That's all it's been an extraordinary achievement.

Luke plans to go further. He is preparing a new version equipped with more solar panels, GPS systems, and autonomous flight software. The target is ultimately ambitious: breaking the world record for the longest flying duration for pure solar-powered drones.

This Luke experiment is not just a technical show-off. It became a tiny symbol of the big dream that the future of technology could move without fossil fuels, only with sunlight and the persistence of people who do not know give up.
