Komdigi Allocates 8 Trillion Budget Ceiling For Operations And Maintenance

JAKARTA - Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives has approved a budget ceiling of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) in 2026 of IDR 8 trillion. Smaller than the previously proposed figure of IDR 12.6 trillion.

With this amount, the Ministry of Communication and Trade will focus on continuing the various long-term programs and contracts that have been running, especially at the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI).

The Secretary General of Komdigi, Ismail, also stated Komdigi's commitment to support the continuation of operations and maintenance (operation & maintenance) of various digital infrastructures that have been built.

"This continues the commitment that is already in the form of a long term commitment, for example for the Palapa Ring, for Satria I, it is running every year and is still implementing, so continue maintenance operations, including for BTS," said Ismail at the Ngopi Bareng Komdigi event on Friday, September 19.

In addition, the budget also includes personnel spending and office operations. Ismail emphasized that basic needs such as salary, allowances, and support for ministry operational activities were included in the ceiling.

However, he admits that the amount of IDR 8 trillion is still not sufficient to finance new needs that arise outside of existing contracts. One of them is for the operation of the National Data Center (PDN) which has now been built in Cikarang.

"Our proposal is not enough. Because it is still outside the contracts earlier and there are new things that must also be resolved. For example, the PDN problem that has been built in Cikarang, it requires the support as well as the budget that we are proposing to add," he explained.

Nevertheless, Ismail emphasized that Komdigi is committed to eliminating unnecessary budget waste, such as physical meetings that can be replaced online, irrelevant official travel, and excessive procurement of official vehicles.

"But there are also units whose main task is to travel in an official manner. For example, monitoring the radio frequency spectrum that reaches the diplosok-plosok, we are preparing this," he said.
