JAKARTA - A number of parents of students in South Jakarta complain about the system of distributing the level of welfare of residents or Desil in the New Student Admission Selection (SPMB). The rules for grouping the economy are considered inaccurate and do not match the real conditions of families in the field, so that they hinder their children from applying through the affirmative path.

One of the parents of students from Mampang, Ispandi, admitted that he was disappointed because he who worked as a small trader and had a housewife was categorized as a capable citizen (Desil 6-10). In fact, he had a Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and the Indonesian Smart Program (PIP).

"I have KJP and PIP, but I can't apply for the affirmative or SPMB track together because my Desil number is at level 6-10 or is considered capable," said Ispandi when he visited the SPMB Post at SMAN 70, Jakarta, Friday, June 19, 2026.

Ispandi explained that the absolute requirement to be able to access the affirmation path is to be in the Desil 1-4 category or the community group is unable. He admitted that he had submitted an online rebuttal to the village until almost a year ago so that his data could be re-verified, but until now no officer has come to conduct a survey or update the data.

Similar complaints were also expressed by Dewi. He regretted the government's attitude which made the Desil data or Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) as a dead price in the school selection process, even though the validity of the data is still problematic and has not been updated periodically.

Dewi now admits to being plagued by doubts because her house is in zone three, which means that there is no state school whose position is close to her residence if she is forced to fight through the zoning route.

"From the post, I was advised to go to a free school, but I was afraid that there would be another Desil requirement, I just didn't know if I would fail just because Desil again," said Dewi anxiously.

The DKI Jakarta Education Office itself is currently opening SPMB Information and Consultation Service Posts in every administrative city area to help map and find solutions to community problems. The post, which serves various admission routes, will operate until July 8, 2026.

To accelerate the handling of technical population problems, this SPMB Post has also directly synergized with the Sub-Department of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) through the one-stop service system.
