Zimbra Encourages Email Security Amid Digital Transformation

JAKARTA Zimbra, a global email platform and collaboration, is pushing for the progress of email protection in Indonesia. According to Zimbra, email security is an important pillar in dealing with cyber threats.

Zimbra said that cyber attacks are currently increasingly sophisticated due to the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Worse yet, attacks targeting small and large organizations continue to increase sharply.

This increase shows a critical vulnerability in national digital infrastructure. Unfortunately, there are still many institutions and organizations that underestimate email security. In fact, this platform often stores important data.

Gautam Ramachandran, Senior Director of Go-to-Market at Zimbra, emphasized the importance of changing this perspective. He said that email leaks have many impacts, they can even disrupt various sectors in the country.

This perspective must change. An email leak today could disrupt tax systems, health services, and banking operations, which could seriously undermine public trust," said Gautam in a statement received by VOI.

Cyber threats such as ransomware, phishing, and Business Email Compromise (BEC) are also serious problems. These attacks endanger the basic system that supports the government and the economy because it creates security loopholes.

Data from the 2025 Fortinet survey shows that more than half of organizations in Indonesia are already facing cyber threats driven by AI. The public and financial sectors are the most affected. This highlights the need to strengthen email security.

True digital sovereignty means owning and controlling the infrastructure that handles sensitive national data, and that includes email. Email security is not just a behind-the-scenes feature; it's core infrastructure for modern digital communities," Ramachandran added.
