BRIN Explores AI Research Collaboration With Technology Companies

JAKARTA The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is exploring cooperation with a number of technology companies. This collaboration is needed for research on the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In the announcement shared by BRIN, the agency will collaborate with PT BISA Artificial Indonesia and Science and Technology Research Institute for Defense (STRIDE) Malaysia. The three of them had a meeting on August 6.

BRIN's Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security Research (PRKAKS), Hilman F. Pardede, explained that his team had done a lot of research. Not only that, PRKAKS has also carried out technology development and study.

To achieve better progress, Hilman believes that they need to collaborate with a number of parties, especially companies that are experts in AI. Therefore, this collaboration attracted two companies from two countries.

"We have conducted several studies, and as a form of downstreaming, we are collaborating with various parties," Hilman said, quoted through the official BRIN website on Friday, August 8.

In addition to research needs, BRIN PRKAKS also opens opportunities for research collaboration in several main fields. This field includes Computer Vision and Image Processing, Machine Learning, and Cyber Security.

Octaviano Pratama, Director of PT Bisa Artificial Indonesia, said that they were interested in joining the collaboration. Through this collaboration, Bisa, STRIDE, and BRIN can exchange insights related to research and AI development.

"We hope that a research collaboration will be established through the MoU or Cooperation Agreement that can be useful for the wider community," said Octaviano. This collaboration is expected to have a real positive impact.

Meanwhile, representatives from STRIDE Malaysia, Muhammad Nur Annuar Bin Mohd Yunos, welcomed this initiative. Yunos hopes that they can collaborate with BRIN in developing AI in the defense sector.
