NASA's 'Moon Medan Vehicle Development Program' (LTV) has entered its next stage. The US space agency has selected the three best instruments for adoption.

Two instruments will be integrated into the LTV or manned vehicle, while one other instrument will be used on the next orbital flight. This selection is part of the Artemis campaign.

Basically, LTV is a manned vehicle that astronauts will operate while on the lunar surface. This vehicle will help astronauts explore and collect samples on the Moon.

LTV can transport two astronauts. In fact, this month's vehicle is capable of being operated remotely independently. With this vehicle, astronauts can go through the terrain that is difficult to pass.

Nicky Fox, Administrator of the NASA Science Mission Directorate Association, stressed the importance of this instrument. He said that this instrument would assist astronauts in seeking important and beneficial discoveries for the wider community.

"The Artemis Moon Medan vehicle will take humanity further than ever across the lunar border in an epic journey of exploration and scientific discovery," Fox said, quoted from NASA's website on Friday, July 11.

One of the instruments selected for LTV is the Reflectance Spectrometer and Artemis Infrared Emission (AIRES). This instrument can identify, measure, and map lunar minerals and volatiles such as water and carbon dioxide.

Next there is the Active Spectrometer-Pasive Microwave Moon (L-MAPS). The L-MAPS will investigate what is below the Moon's surface and look for possible ice locations with a spectrometer and ground-filling radar.

NASA has also selected an Ultra-Compact Imaging Spectrometer for the Moon (UCIS-Moon) for future orbital flight opportunities. UCIS-Moon will map the Moon's geology and volatility from orbit, as well as identify scientific-valued areas for astronauts to collect samples.
