JAKARTA - Ahead of the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI) Summit in Bratislava, the Indonesian government is exploring cooperation with Slovakia in building inclusive and sustainable Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria emphasized that Indonesia is ready to take an active part in formulating the future direction of global AI based on ethics and human rights.
"We are aware of the gap in AI development between northern and southern countries, so we don't want to just be users, we want to go far to become significant AI developers," said Nezar in his official broadcast, quoted Sunday, May 25.
The GPAI Summit will take place in Bratislava, Slovakia, on November 25-26, 2025. Indonesia, which is currently in the process of accession to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), was invited to be actively involved in the AI Forum.
According to Nezar, Slovakia itself is one of the pioneers in formulating the OECD AI principles which are now a global reference, including in the regulations of the G7, G20, and the European Union.
"This collaboration is very important for Indonesia, which is finalizing national AI regulations," said Nezar Patria.
