JAKARTA - In an annual survey regarding the expectations and use of the Holiday Allowance (THR), YouGov Indonesia noted that online purchases continue to increase in several segments.
The survey also highlighted the growing trend of online spending which is getting stronger in various categories. Products such as data/internet packages (55 percent), electricity and bill payments (46 percent), and entertainment subscriptions (44 percent) are the most dominant digitally purchased.
Not only that, the intention to buy online for food and beverages increased by 58 percent, while online purchases of medicines and vitamins reached 48 percent.
Meanwhile, electronic products and household appliances are growing both on online and offline channels, indicating consumer flexibility in choosing shopping methods that suit their needs.
General Manager of YouGov Indonesia Edward Hutasoit, said that the THR shopping trend opens up great opportunities for the retail and e-commerce industry.
"With the increase in online shopping for food and household needs, businesses need to strengthen digital marketing and sales strategies," Edward explained in his official statement.

Meanwhile, the survey sees that fashion and cosmetics are still more offline, so exclusive promotions in stores can attract more customers.
