JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has established a strategic partnership with the UK's Indo-Pacific Parliamentary Foreign Ministry, to encourage digital transformation.

Coinciding with the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-British Diplomatic Relations, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Digi, Nezar Patria, stated that the partnership includes increasing access and digital inclusion, handling misinformation and utilization of the latest technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Nezar also emphasized that the signing of the MoU will deepen collaboration in a number of areas that are important to the future of the two countries, to advance common interests.

The cooperation in other fields includes sustainable growth, defense, and adaptation of climate change. In particular, it is closely related to the theme of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the UK.

"This also discusses increasing access and digital inclusion, where Komdigi aims to bridge the digital divide in Indonesia. Allows fair access to technology across regions and communities," Nezar said in an official broadcast on Tuesday, January 21.

According to him, the Ministry of Communication and Trade has also opened opportunities for joint UK projects in digital infrastructure investment such as the Republic of Indonesia Satellite (Satria)-2.

"The Satria-2 satellite is planned as a twin satellite with a capacity of 300 Gbps, requiring an estimated construction investment of around US$860 million (Rp14.5 trillion)," he said.

Through the partnership between the two countries, Nezar stated that the Ministry of Komdigi would encourage the transformation of digital technology as a driver of economic growth, community progress and international leadership. According to him, this is in line with the 2045 Indonesian Digital Vision (VID).
