JAKARTA - Apple continues to innovate in its software development. After launching iOS 18 a month ago, the company is now reportedly working on a new application specifically designed for gaming.

Based on information from trusted sources, this application will combine the functions of the App Store and Game Center into one platform. However, the Game Center will not be replaced, but will be integrated with user profiles in this new application.

This app will have some main tabs, such as:

In addition, the app will load games from App Store and Apple Arcade as well as promote special gaming events and important updates.

Apple is experimenting with FaceTime and iMessage integration to support interplayer communications. The company is also exploring the use of App Clips to allow developers to provide easily accessible mini-games.

In practice, this app will resemble the Xbox app for iPhones, where players can see their status, friends' activities, find new games, and check their game libraries. This step is expected to make Apple devices more attractive to gamers.

Apple currently has a subscription service for Apple Arcade that provides access to various games on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV at a cost of US$6.99 (Rp114 thousand) per month. With iOS 18 and macOS 15, Apple also introduced a new tool to help developers port Mac games to iOS.

It's not clear when this new app will be released, but it is expected to come via an iOS 18 update in the future or at the same time as the iOS 19 launch.
