JAKARTA - Electronics company Logitech announced a partnership with Tencent Games, a video game development and publishing platform to create cloud gaming handheld devices later this year.

"This will combine Logitech G's expertise in hardware with Tencent Games' expertise in software services," Logitech said in the announcement.

Logitech G general manager Ubjesh Desai said the reason for choosing Tencent Games as a partner.

"As one of the leading global platforms for game development, publishing and operations, Tencent Games has been at the forefront of innovation and that's why we partner with them."

This new device will support several cloud gaming services. The two companies have agreed to share a common vision for advancing the future of gaming and are committed to ensuring players have a seamless gaming experience in the cloud.

To that end, Logitech and Tencent Games are collaborating with the Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce NOW teams, so gamers can still play AAA games without having to use a console or PC.

This gaming cloud uses a data center server to stream video games to consumers. So, players don't need to download or install PC or console games. Instead, the game will be rendered and played on a remote server.

"We can't wait to show everyone what we've been working on," concluded Desai.
