YOGYAKARTA - Video teleconferencing service Zoom Meeting continues to update features, one of which is a transcription feature that allows users to transcribe audio into text.

When it was first introduced to users of the Zoom Meeting transcription service, it could only be accessed for a fee. However, starting Monday (10/25/2021), this feature can be used by all Zoom users and can be accessed for free.

As for how the instant transcription feature in the Zoom Meeting application works, it converts audio in an online meeting into text during a meeting, such as subtitles in a movie.

Quoted from The Verge, the transcription feature was originally intended for users who have limitations or disabilities, so they cannot attend meetings properly, using video audio services.

The reason is, for some people text is very helpful in conducting online meetings. Therefore, Zoom will continue to update features to make it easier for users, especially during the pandemic.

However, the free transcription feature in Zoom Meeting is currently only able to transcribe meetings in English. In the near future, Zoom will provide the service for free in various languages.
