YOGYAKARTA - WhatsApp Web is a solution for users to make it easier to receive and reply to chat messages, without having to check their cellphones many times while working on a computer.

However, it also makes it easier for other people to see the conversations that the users are having, because the large computer or laptop screen shows the WhatsApp Web view.

Therefore, users cannot close or hide their private conversations when working in a room where there are many people, either known friends or strangers.

It also makes WhatsApp Web users uncomfortable with this situation. However, you don't have to worry because there is a solution to make your WhatsApp conversations invisible to others, even if they are with other people near you.

You can use browser extensions like Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox to make your privacy more secure. If you don't know how to use it yet, you can follow the instructions that the VOI team has compiled below.

How to Activate Privacy Extension for WhatsApp Web

One of the extensions that can be used in Google Chrome to create additional security on your WhatsApp Web is the Privacy Extension for WhatsApp Web. Currently, the extension has been used by more than 60 thousand users on Google Chrome.

Google Chrome users can download this extension directly on the Chrome Web Store. Meanwhile, Mozilla Firefox users can download the extension in the Firefox Browser Add-ons.

By using the Privacy Extension for WhatsApp Web, all the list of accounts and conversations displayed on the screen will be blurry, unless you hover over the chat you want to read.

Users can also set what they want to blur. For example, the entire conversation in the chat, media preview, profile picture, group name, or preview of the latest messages in the chat list.

To do this you can look for the puzzle icon at the top right of the browser, then select Privacy Extension for WhatsApp Web. You can also easily turn off the feature using the Alt + X keys on the keyboard.

Meanwhile, if you don't feel comfortable using the extension, you can remove it by re-entering the puzzle icon in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, then clicking the three dots and selecting Remove from Chrome.

For the record, the extension is an independent project of Lukas Lenhardt and is not affiliated with the WhatsApp Inc company. Even so, Google Chrome states that the Privacy Extension for WhatsApp Web does not collect any data from its users.
