Windows 11 Build 22000.120 Gives New Features And Bug Fixes

JAKARTA - The latest Windows 11 update is here! Windows 11 build 22000.120 is now available to users on the Dev and Beta Windows Insider Preview Channels. The fifth Windows 11 update brings with it several new features along with many bug fixes, which are always welcome.

What's in Windows 11 Build 22000.120?

One of the biggest changes arriving in Windows 11 build 22000.120 is the new Family widget. The Family Widget can be accessed from the Widget taskbar icon and will allow you to check the status of your family at a glance, displaying information about recent activity, downloads, and so on.

Adding your family members to your taskbar may be a step too far for many. However, it does show the overall direction Microsoft is taking with the widgets that were reintroduced in Windows 11, with a lot of integration into your Microsoft account.

Another new Windows 11 feature, the taskbar chat icon, is also receiving an update. Now, the Chat icon will display a notification badge, allowing users to read unseen notifications from the taskbar. However, the official Microsoft Insider Preview blog advises, "Not everyone will see it right away at first."

Other fixes and updates appear on board:

- Adjustments to the close button on the taskbar

- Settings app will switch to your active monitor when using Select Background via Task View

- Monitor identification button is easier to find

- Compacted File Explorer context menu for mouse users, reducing their footprint

- File Explorer context menu New button is now a drop-down list instead of a nested list

- Distance and size adjustments for ALT+Tab, task view and Snap Assist.

Windows 11 Dev Builds Get Microsoft Store Update

Windows 11 users on the Insider Preview Dev Channel received an additional update this time, as Microsoft experimented with Microsoft Store features.

So those running Dev builds should check out the Microsoft Store for:

- New auto scrolling feature to highlight and find new apps

- New design and more details on game app page

- Updated rating and review form for easier feedback

Bug Fixes Windows 11 Build 22000.120

Like any new operating system, Windows 11 has bugs that need to be eliminated. The Windows 11 Insider Preview Schematic is a core part of finding the bug and removing it. The latest version of Windows 11 has an extensive — very long — list of bug fixes which you can read about in the official Insider Preview blog post, linked above.

Improvements include the taskbar, Settings app, File Explorer, Start menu, Windows Search, windowing, Windows Security, and input (keyboard and mouse touch), along with a substantial list of "Others."

As above, there are too many to list here, but the Windows 11 team eliminates a plethora of bugs with each cumulative update.
