JAKARTA - ZTE Corporation officially signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) with Telkomsel, a leading digital telecommunications service provider in Indonesia, at the MWC Barcelona 2026.
This collaboration strengthens the joint commitment of both companies in developing an adaptive and intelligent network with a strong focus on customer experience and Indonesia's digital transformation.
In this agreement, both companies will explore AI-based network technology and enterprise innovation to provide more reliable, equitable, and valuable digital experiences for customers and industry players in Indonesia.
"Through this collaboration, we strive to integrate the capabilities of AI-based smart networks to improve service reliability, expand more inclusive broadband access, and open up new opportunities for customers and industry players throughout Indonesia," said Telkomsel's Director of Planning & Transformation, Wong Soon Nam.
Telkomsel and ZTE will evaluate the capabilities of AI-native Radio Access Network (RAN) to enable more adaptive and customer-oriented 5G services.
The trial of the AIREngine module concept on the BBU V9200 platform will be carried out to enable experience-based network management, supporting consistent service quality improvement.
To encourage digital inclusion, the two companies will also expand the implementation of Edge User Plane (UPF), in order to make access more even in various parts of Indonesia, with an approach that is claimed to reduce latency, increase efficiency, and strengthen service stability, especially in remote areas.
In addition, this collaboration also includes a joint innovation program with enterprise customers through targeted trials to identify relevant, scalable, and applicable AI use cases for industry needs.
"Indonesia's digital transformation continues to show positive momentum, in line with the increasing adoption of digital technology in various industrial sectors and among the community," said President Director of ZTE Indonesia, Richard Liang.
He also emphasized, "together with Telkomsel, we are committed to supporting the development of intelligent and adaptive network capabilities to meet the needs of users and the ever-evolving industry."
