JAKARTA - The era of static photos is increasingly abandoned. Snapchat is now launching a new feature called AI Clips that can turn one photo into a short video lasting five seconds - instant, personal, and ready to be shared.
With this feature, users simply select one image from the camera or gallery, then AI will "bring it to life" as a moving video in minutes.
From Still Photos to Living ContentAI Clips hadir melalui Lens Studio, memungkinkan kreator maupun developer membuat pengalaman video berbasis AI tanpa perlu tools kompleks.
Interestingly, this system uses a "closed prompt" approach. This means that users are not free to create videos from scratch like other text-to-video AI, but rather use templates or Lenses that have been designed.
This strategy makes the results more consistent and scalable - plus it is suitable for mass distribution on the Snapchat platform.
This feature also opens up monetization opportunities. Creators can earn income through the Lens+ Payouts program, based on how much engagement their content generates.
However, AI Clips is not a free feature. Access is only available for Lens+ subscribers, Snapchat's premium service for around $9 per month.
This move reinforces Snapchat's direction: not just a chat platform, but an AI-based creative ecosystem that encourages fast, lightweight, and viral-ready content.
