JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has officially formed nine posts with communication service quality assistance and radio frequency spectrum monitoring, along with three mobile operators in Indonesia, namely Telkomsel, XLSMART, and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.

This monitoring is carried out as an effort to mitigate the occurrence of a surge in telecommunications traffic at the moment of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday, which is estimated to increase by around 30-40 percent compared to ordinary days.

"This Eid or holiday is a special holiday. Because in terms of time it is unusually long. Combined with the existence of WFA (Work From Anywhere), it will have a significant impact on the surge in telecommunications traffic which we estimate will report around 30-40 percent," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications, Ismail, on Friday, March 13.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Digital Infrastructure Komdigi, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, said that monitoring would be carried out through radio frequency spectrum monitoring stations spread in various places, starting from March 13-29.

In addition, Komdigi together with opsel also placed a joint post at nine points, including Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Gambir Station, Semarang Tawang Station, and Halim Fast Train Station (KCIC).

Monitoring is also carried out at several major ports, such as the Merak Port in Banten for the homecoming flow and the Bakauheni Port for the return flow, the Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya, as well as the Gilimanuk Port and Ketapang Port which are crossing routes between Java and Bali.

Not to forget, the joint post will also be placed at a number of toll rest areas, including the KM 57 Rest Area for the homecoming flow and the KM 62 Rest Area for the return flow.

"The implementation of this joint post is also the main objective of maintaining public safety by ensuring that communications using the radio spectrum are not disrupted," said Wayan.
