Redmi Turbo 5 Max Officially Launched This Month, Price Rp5.9 Million Ready to Shake the Performance Class

JAKARTA - Redmi confirmed that it will launch the Redmi Turbo 5 series this month in China, with one major surprise in the form of the presence of a new model called Redmi Turbo 5 Max. The official confirmation also revealed that this device will play in the 2,500 yuan price segment or around Rp5.9 million, marking Redmi's ambition to be more aggressive in the mid-range high-performance mobile market.

The official teaser shows the Redmi Turbo 5 Max positioned as an upgraded variant, with a focus on faster performance, better durability, and a more premium handheld experience. In promotional materials, the word "Max" is even displayed with a reflection that reads "WIN", a symbol of Redmi's confidence that this device is ready to win the competition in its category.

A number of leaks from Chinese tipsters say that this year's Turbo line will get a significant design upgrade. Redmi is rumored to start adopting a wider metal frame, a large flat screen with rounded corners, and the latest generation of MediaTek chipsets.

Several reports also indicate testing of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the high-end variant, plus a battery that is claimed to be the largest capacity ever used on a Redmi phone. If true, this is not just a turbo, but an overclock.

For the standard variant, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max is said to be powered by the Dimensity 8500 chipset. This 4nm processor carries an all-big-core CPU design and is scheduled to make its official debut on January 15 in China. Meanwhile, the higher variant is likely to be called the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro Max, with the upcoming Dimensity 9500e chipset.

Outside the Chinese market, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max and Turbo 5 Pro Max are expected to come with different names under the Poco brand, possibly as the Poco X8 series. Rumors say Redmi and Poco could skip the standard variant, and immediately present the Poco X8 Max or Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max.

With aggressive pricing, a more premium design, and a promise of fast performance, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max looks ready to become a new "rioter" in the mid-range performance phone segment. In this class, Redmi obviously does not want to just join the race - the target is the podium.
