JAKARTA - The government, together with the private sector, continues to send assistance to accelerate the recovery of telecommunications infrastructure and services in disaster locations including Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Many public figures, including social media influencers, have opened fundraising for disaster victims. However, it is not uncommon for this assistance to invite public comments.

Responding to the dynamics of discussions on social media related to disaster assistance, the Ministry of Communication and Digital emphasized that the public should focus on the spirit of mutual cooperation.

"Let's work together. This is us with good intentions to recover the condition together and we pay attention to the people who are affected," said Director General of Public Communication and Media of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Fifi Aleyda Yahya, in a press conference for the delivery of disaster assistance on Monday, December 22 at Halim Perdanakusuma airport.

He explained that currently the recovery of telecommunications networks in North Sumatra has reached around 97%, West Sumatra 99%, while Aceh is still in the range of 80%.

However, it cannot be denied that there are a number of logistical challenges, especially the limited cargo flight slots due to the high flow of assistance from various parties to the Sumatra region.

However, Senior Vice President (SVP) Corporate Secretary of Telkomsel, Ferry Alfonso, emphasized that recovery efforts continue to be carried out gradually and sustainably.

Today, Telkomsel together with Komdigi sent assistance in the form of 100 generators, 500 mobile phones, 50 units of batteries, and 50 rectifiers for free, which will be focused on Aceh.

Furthermore, Telkomsel also ensures the delivery of the next aid in the fifth cargo which is scheduled to depart next Friday.

The assistance includes 500 Al-Qur'ans, 500 prayer mats, 500 mukena, and 3,000 pieces of new clothes, all of which will be distributed to affected people in Aceh.

"We add that the plan is that tomorrow Friday, God willing, there will be a fifth cargo from Telkomsel that will carry 500 Qurans, 500 prayer mats, 500 mukena and 3,000 new clothes for us to distribute in Aceh," concluded Ferry.
