Ending Disputes With Google, Fortnite Returns To US Play Store

JAKARTA Epic Games has brought its popular game back to the Google Play Store. On Friday, December 12, the company said that Fornite could be downloaded on the Play Store.

With Fortnite's return, the video game is now available in the two largest mobile app stores. This is good news because the antitrust dispute between Epic Games and Google has been going on for five years.

The lawsuit began in 2020 when Epic sued Google over their policies on the mobile payment system. Overall, Epic managed to win the trial.

Epic's lawsuit has reached a settlement in November 2025. The two companies approved a modified version of the order issued by US District Judge James Donato.

The order that Donato spends focuses on the costs imposed on the developer. In addition, the order also regulates the handling of in-app payments and third-party billing systems.

A similar dispute story also happened with Apple earlier this year. US Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers also sided with Epic Games in his decision last May. Apple was ordered to stop collecting commissions for purchases made outside the App Store.

After a long dispute with Apple, Fortnite finally returned to iOS in the US a few weeks later. Fortnite's return to the Google Play Store completes the return of the game to the mobile platform.
