Menkomdigi Calls The Recovery Of Aceh Telecommunication Services Still 40 Percent

JAKARTA - The Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, stated that the focus of the current government is to restore telecommunications services after the flood and landslide disaster in the Aceh region.

According to Meutya, there are several factors that make recovery in Aceh quite difficult, including due to the availability of electricity and transmission disruptions.

"Maybe our focus is now on Aceh. For North Sumatra (North Sumatra) we have 98 percent. Then West Sumatra (West Sumatra) is even better, already at 99 percent," said Meutya during the Christmas celebration of the Telecommunication Network Operators Association (APJATEL) on Thursday, December 11.

Meutya also stated that the tower-based connectivity recovery in the affected Aceh region was still around 40 percent.

"The connectivity of the tower base is friends. So it's not a satellite base. The tower base is approximately 40 percent. So this is what our homework is to increase immediately. Because connectivity is very, very important," he added.

Meutya could not target when the recovery of telecommunications services would be completed, because according to her, the main challenge lies in the availability of electricity.

"So I said there were several factors earlier, we can't target when. But if electricity is available, God willing," he said.

The government ensures that the acceleration of recovery continues, considering that connectivity is still a crucial service for people in affected areas.
