Intel Adds IDR 3.4 Trillion Investment In Malaysia For Assembly And Testing Facilities

JAKARTA - Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, announced that Intel will disburse additional investment of 860 million Ringgit Malaysia (Rp3.46 trillion), for the company's assembly and testing center.

This announcement was shared directly by Anwar Ibrahim through his X account @anwarinbrahim after his meeting with Intel CEO Lip Eliap Bu Tan on Monday, December 1.

Anwar stressed that the decision shows Intel's confidence in Malaysia's long-term prospects is in line with the national industry's strategy through the 2030 Baharu Industry Main Rainbow.

"In the evening, I received a respectful visit from the Chief Executive Employee of Intel Corporation, Lip-Bu Tan, a Malaysian child who has made the name of the country proud in the semiconductor and persian industry in the global community."

"Based on confidence in the country's long-term design, including the 2030 Baharu Industry Main Rainbow, Intel announced an additional merger worth RM860 million to make Malaysia the center of their installation and test operations," he wrote.

Anwar also welcomed Intel's collaboration with local education and training institutions, as a step to develop human resources in the country.

As part of this initiative, Intel will finance educational programs, elective subjects, as well as research and development projects worth a total of 2.8 million Ringgit Malaysia (IDR 11.26 billion) in the next two years.

He considered that Intel's investment was a catalyst to strengthen the talent ecosystem and maintain the country's competitiveness on the global stage.

"All of these mergers reflect the belief of a global syarikat against Malaysia as the main rival in spurring innovation, strengthening the ecosystem of local talent and enforcing the country's competitiveness on the world stage," he concluded.
