JAKARTA - Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison together with Nokia and NVIDIA, today inaugurated the AI-RAN Research Center in Surabaya, as the AI center for the development of the Radio Access Network (RAN) network based on artificial intelligence (AI).

This collaboration combines RAN technology from Nokia, the NVIDIA computing acceleration platform, and the Indosat commercial network, to present AI integration in Indonesia's telecommunications network.

This new AI-RAN infrastructure not only facilitates RAN's high-performance software in the same infrastructure, but is also directly connected to Indosat's Sovereign AI Factory, which is supported by NVIDIA.

Both will serve as distributed computing platforms that bring AI capabilities closer, thus providing a better digital experience and opening up new economic opportunities from RAN investment.

"Along with the acceleration of digital transformation in Indonesia, the AI-RAN Research Center represents Indosat's great goal of empowering Indonesia," said Indosat Ooredoo President Director and Chief Executive Officer Hutchison, totaling Sinha.

Through this development center, Indosat, Nokia, and NVIDIA are committed to presenting AI to millions of Indonesians, from data centers to distributed 5G networks.

This collaboration is also expected to open up new opportunities in various sectors, such as education, agriculture, and health, to take advantage of better AI-based solutions.

This step is the first phase of a strategic partnership announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 at Barcelona.

"This initiative marks an important milestone in our journey towards the future of the AI-native network, by bringing AI-based intelligence to the hands of every Indonesian people," added Pallavi Mahajan, Chief Technology and AI Officer Nokia.
