JAKARTA - The e-Conomy SEA 2025 report released by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company revealed that Indonesia is the country with the highest adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The report lists Indonesia as the top ASEAN country in revenue growth for AI-powered applications, with a growth of 127 percent, surpassing Singapore's 99 percent.
Google Indonesia Country Director Veronica Utami also stated that Southeast Asian consumer interest in AI is unprecedented, even tripling the global average.
"In fact, Indonesia itself is among the top 20 globally for interest in multimodal AI," Utami said at the launch of the e-Conomy SEA 2025 report on Thursday, November 13.
Utami added that one example of Indonesians' frequent use of AI is Google's Gemini AI product. The Nano Banana feature, newly released this year, is widely used by Indonesians, and is currently ranked among the top two.
"The number of images generated through Nano Banana by Indonesian consumers is 18 million per day. That's just from Indonesia for the Nano Banana feature, which is extraordinary," she said.
For your information, Nano Banana is another name for Google's artificial intelligence (AI) model that focuses on image editing and creation.
Furthermore, in this report, Veronica also stated that 80% of users in Indonesia demonstrate daily interaction and a very high level of trust in AI.
“This means we rank second highest in all of Southeast Asia, and the gap is small compared to Vietnam, which only has 81 percent,” explained Veronica.
Furthermore, 68% of users in Indonesia said they have conversations and ask questions to AI chatbots, while another 50% even rely on AI to make faster decisions.
