Apple Warns IPhone Users In France Over Spyware Attacks

JAKARTA Apple again gave warnings to a number of iPhone users in France who were suspected of being targeted by spyware attacks. Apple did the same thing in Iran last July.

Launching from TechCrunch, France's national cybersecurity response unit said that Apple sent this notification last September 3. This warning has been sent to iPhone users who are connected to the iCloud account.

So far, warnings have been sent to users whose devices are suspected to have been hacked or infiltrated by spyware vendors. Unfortunately, it is not clear how many people were affected by this spyware infiltration.

France's cybersecurity response unit also did not tell what type of spyware was used, when this attack began, and what underlies this attack. Apple has not provided more detailed information.

For users affected by spyware attacks, Apple continues to notify victims whose devices are regularly targeted. The company also advises victims to seek help from the digital security laboratory Access Now.

Recently, Apple has sent similar warnings to users in various countries. The notification was conveyed to victims in Iran, Europe, India, and dozens of other countries who were targeted by paid spyware attacks.

The case of spyware attacks in France is nothing new. French President Emmanuel Macron reportedly changed his cell phone in 2021 after his device became the target spyware for NSO Group's Pegasus.
