JAKARTA Notion has launched an interesting feature some time ago, namely the ability to access the platform offline. Although the feature is efficient, there are many weaknesses of this new capability.

One of the biggest weaknesses of this feature is that users must download the page manually to access offline. Users must download each page one by one. If there is a sub-page, additional downloads are needed.

Actions like this are very troublesome, especially for users who have many notes. Notation also limits feature sets when used in offline mode. Users cannot upload new files or access certain blocks that require an internet connection.

The mainstay features such as Notion AI are also inaccessible when the user is offline. The search function is also a major problem because the application does not allow users to search for pages, either downloaded or undownloaded.

Another limitation is the availability of offline per device. Downloaded pages for offline access can only be accessed on the device where the page is downloaded. This requires users to download the same records on each device they use.

This limitation is thought to have originated from the Notion architecture which prioritizes cloud-based services. Even though they have tried to present offline mode, the implementation is still far from expectations.

This shows that Notion still needs a lot of improvement to provide a better experience. Even so, Notion is still an option for many users, especially for collaborative needs.
