Indonesia And China Agree To Collaborate In AI Development In The Agricultural And Fisheries Sector

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, said the governments of Indonesia and China agreed to strengthen strategic partnerships in the development of artificial intelligence infrastructure (AI), and digital talent.

During a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong, Meutya, told China to collaborate in the development of AI technology in Indonesia in priority sectors, such as fisheries and agriculture.

Some agricultural land in Indonesia has implemented AI technology. Meutya hopes that this support from China can improve the capabilities of AI devices used in the agricultural sector to increase production.

The two countries will also strengthen cooperation in the field of increasing digital infrastructure to expanding inter-Universary cooperation as part of accelerating national digital transformation.

Meutya expressed her hope that Chinese companies could forge closer partnerships with local governments in Indonesia.

"In digital transformation, we are always ready to cooperate with all countries as long as we respect Indonesian law," he said.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Digi, Ismail, also said that his party was encouraging the strengthening of collaboration between universities in Indonesia and Tsinghua University in Beijing for the development of digital talent in the AI sector.

Many of our young digital talents are now studying at Tsinghua University in Beijing. We propose Tsinghua University to open branches in Indonesia, especially in the AI sector," he said.

Ismail also added that the Ministry of Komdigi is ready to facilitate collaboration between Tsinghua University and various universities in Indonesia.
